THE CURRICULUM

The Elementary Unit follows the K to 12 Curriculum prescribed by the Department of Education. In response to the recommendation of the IATF and in compliance with the mandate of the Department of Education, the Elementary Unit offers a new learning set up that aims to  address the basic education of its learners.

This modification on the Academic program still concretizes the school’s philosophy and objectives through the different area contents, approaches, methodologies and the values used and integrated in all subject areas.

The unit adapts the DISTANCE/BLENDED LEARNING APPROACH. Blended learning is an approach to planning and organizing teaching for student learning that offers an alternative to the traditional lecture/tutorial model of delivery. Blended learning is defined by Bluic et al. (2007) as a three-way interaction: Blended learning describes learning activities that involve a systematic combination of co-present (face-to-face) interactions and technologically-mediated interactions between students, teachers and learning resources.

MODE OF DELIVERY

A. SYNCHRONOUS LEARNING refers to the real time online interaction between the teacher and the students.

B. ASYNCHRONOUS LEARNING makes use of teacher- made resources like lecture videos, modules, activities, assessment which will be sent through a designated Learning Management System (LMS).

C. BLENDED LEARNING APPROACH the school aims to provide the basic learning skills with the integration of the BENEDICTINE HALLMARKS and the INTERDISCIPLINARY PROGRAM relative to the objectives of the institution.

These are adapted in all levels. The Flipped Model of Blended Learning are used in the Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 3 which is likely more of Asynchronous learning.

Moreover, the Grades 4-6 are provided online access to the learning tools and its COLLABORATIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT (CLE) resources of ARALINKS. This sserve as the Learning Management System (LMS) of the Intermediate Level. Each student can access through their individual accounts.

INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES FOR DISTANCE LEARNING

In this new set up the following instructional materials are used and they are as follows:

These will be the main reference of the students in the understanding of their lessons. Each subject area has a textbook /workbook that covers the competencies.

B. SELF LEARNING MODULES (SLM)
The different subject areas prepare the learning modules which employ different activities to address the learning needs of every student.  Assessment is likewise provided in every module.

  • Modules can be accessed by the students through:
    • GOOGLE CLASSROOM/ARALINKS  ( ONLINE )
Teachers post and embed modules and  instructional materials in this sites.

    • FOR PICK UP IN SCHOOL
Printed modules are picked up by parents/guardians as scheduled.
    • PRE-RECORDED VIDEOS
The learning videos are uploaded in the Aralinks or Google Classroom. Schedule for uploading of learning videos will be once a week. Students with slow internet connectivity or no internet connection are provided with a soft copy of the video saved in the students’  flash drive.
